Troubleshooting common problems
Fixes for the Diesel n' Steel problems players hit most: codes that refuse to redeem, a jeepney that will not start, stalled runs and towing that sticks.
Most Diesel n' Steel problems come down to four things: a code that will not redeem, a jeepney that will not start, a run that has stalled, and a tow that will not attach. Here is what to check for each.
Codes that will not redeem
| What you see | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Not enough EXP | Code menu is locked under 500 EXP | Drive short routes until you cross 500 |
| Invalid code | Expired, or capitals and spaces are wrong | Copy and paste rather than typing |
| Already redeemed | One use per account | Move on to the next code |
| Nothing happens | Wrong account | Check which account you are logged in as |
The codes with a space in them, like Oplan Paldo, are the ones people get wrong most often. The space is part of the code.

The jeepney will not start
Nine times out of ten it is the clutch. The sequence is hold Shift, press F, press E to move into first, then release Shift. If you release the clutch with the gearbox still in neutral the engine dies immediately.
If the clutch is not the problem, check the battery. A battery at the end of its life is a jeepney that will not turn over, and BA-05 at PHP 1,000 is a 10 star life rating. If the engine has taken damage, a wrench restores 10 to 25 percent engine health and takes two to four minutes.
Running out of fuel mid-route
The diesel can is the fix, not the prevention. It costs PHP 1,500 from the hardware shop in front of the Bulakan spawn point and holds enough to get you to a station.
The prevention is easier: refuel as part of the turnaround on any long route. The Malolos run is roughly ten in-game kilometres each way and a tank that covers several Guiguinto trips will not cover several Malolos trips.
A damaged jeepney after a crash
Collisions cost EXP and take part health, and you pay for repairs afterwards. Check the four items the LTO inspection cares about first, because they are the same four that matter on the road: engine, brakes, tires and lights.
| Damage | Short-term fix | Permanent fix |
|---|---|---|
| Engine health | Wrench, restores 10 to 25 percent | New engine or better engine oil |
| Brakes | Drive slower, keep distance | B-05 brakes at PHP 3,500 |
| Tires | Avoid hard stops | T-05 tires at PHP 1,600 each |
| Lights | Refit the missing ones | Complete set, they are required for inspection |
Towing that will not attach
The rope has been documented as misbehaving, so a tow that refuses to connect is a known rough edge rather than something you are doing wrong. The rope costs PHP 550 and has other uses, including linking vehicles together for roleplay.
Missing a stop and losing the trip
Missing a drop-off point costs you the fare and the EXP for that trip, so the recovery is simply to complete the run properly rather than to abandon it. The drop-off points are the green-marked boxes near each town.
When something you read here is wrong
The game updates often and prices move. If a fare, a part price or an entry in the code list does not match what you see in game, the game is right. The address for corrections is on the contact page, and the things that change most often are listed on the update log.
FAQ
Why will my jeepney not start?
Hold Shift and press F. If that fails, check the battery.
Why does my code say invalid?
Either it expired or the capitalisation and spacing are wrong. Codes with a space need the space.
Can I refuel without a gas station?
Only with a diesel can, which carries limited fuel.
Is the towing rope broken?
It has been documented as buggy, so treat a failed tow as a known rough edge.
