Student and senior fare discount

How discounted fares work in Diesel n' Steel: which passengers qualify, exactly how much less they pay at each Bulacan stop, and how to spot them early.

Last checked 2026-10-14 · Game build October 2026

Discounted fares in Diesel n' Steel apply to students and senior citizens, and the discount is a flat PHP 2 off the regular fare at every stop on every route. A student travelling to the base-fare stops pays PHP 11 instead of PHP 13. A senior riding to the last stop on the Malolos route pays PHP 23 instead of PHP 25.

Getting the discount right matters more than it looks. If you collect the regular fare from a discounted passenger, the change you hand back is wrong, and wrong change costs 1 EXP exactly like any other mistake.

Because the discount never changes, you only need to learn one column per route.

Spotting a discounted passenger before you take the money

Decide the fare as the passenger boards, not after. Once you have taken cash, the number you computed is the number you are stuck with.

The practical sequence at a stop:

  1. Look at the passenger as they come up the steps.
  2. Decide regular or discounted.
  3. Find their stop in the matrix.
  4. Note the fare, take the cash, subtract, return.

If you are unsure, ask. Getting a fare wrong in the passenger's favour costs you money, and getting it wrong against them still costs you EXP.

Why the discount is worth taking seriously

The difference per passenger is small. Across a full Malolos load it stops being small, because the discount applies to every discounted passenger and a full jeepney on that route can be worth hundreds of pesos.

It also compounds with the change mistakes it causes. A driver who confuses the columns on a busy run loses EXP all the way to the terminal, and EXP is what gates the code menu at 500.

Putting it together with the rest of the fare system

The discounted column is the same rule as everything else on this site: the fare is set by the passenger's stop and class, not by where they boarded. The base is PHP 13 for the first four barangays, PHP 2 per extra barangay, and PHP 2 off for students and seniors.

The full tables are on the fare matrix, the change routine is on sukli: give the right change, and the arithmetic you rehearse on the flat-fare route until it is automatic is in the beginner guide.
